We expected the usual teething issues that come with any new system, but instead we saw fewer incidents and strong performance from the start.
Project at a glance
Pandora, the world’s largest jeweller by volume, is transforming its global warehouse operations to support continued growth and increasing supply chain complexity. The programme focuses on deploying Hardis WMS across Pandora’s owned distribution centres, starting with sites in Europe and Asia, with the United States next on the roadmap.
Context and Objectives
Pandora operates more than 2 500 retail stores across over 100 countries. In recent years, the business has experienced strong global growth, supported by an expanding direct to consumer model and a highly integrated, end-to-end value chain.
To support this next phase of growth, Pandora identified the need for a modern warehouse management system capable of scaling with the business, supporting its unique manufacturing-to-retail model, and improving the day-to-day experience for warehouse teams.
Key objectives included:
- Supporting high and growing volumes across multiple global distribution centres
- Improving inventory visibility to enable more advanced allocation and fulfilment decisions
- Providing a flexible platform that could evolve alongside the business
- Delivering an intuitive user interface with a short learning curve for operators
Application
Pandora selected Hardis WMS following a formal tender process that evaluated several warehouse management system providers. The solution was chosen for its flexibility, usability and ability to support Pandora’s specific operational requirements without relying on fragile bespoke development.
The first phase of the programme focused on Pandora’s European distribution centre in Hamburg and its Thailand distribution centre in Bangkok. The Thailand site represented the most complex implementation to date, combining the rollout of Hardis WMS alongside new transportation and ERP platforms.
The deployment in Thailand was delivered in a staggered approach, with core functionality going live at the end of July, followed by a second wave two weeks later. The full implementation was completed shortly before the site’s peak trading period.
Benefits
Despite the ambitious timeline and complexity of the programme, Pandora recorded strong early results at the Thailand distribution centre:
- A significant reduction in critical incidents compared with the previous year, despite higher throughput
- Faster incident containment, with service level targets consistently met
- Improved inventory visibility and smoother flow through the distribution centre
Looking ahead
With Hardis WMS live in Europe and Asia, Pandora is now preparing to roll out the solution at its newest distribution centre in Baltimore, supporting its largest commercial market. The platform provides a scalable foundation to support future growth, increasing volumes and evolving operational requirements across Pandora’s global supply chain.
